The TcSUH Society at The Texas Center For Superconductivity

The TcSUH Society, est. 2019

Calling all Former TcSUH Students, Faculty, Research and Administrative Staff, and Visiting Scientists!

Since our founding in 1987, TcSUH has provided research experiences for hundreds of students, postdoctoral fellows, faculty and visiting faculty, research staff, administrative staff, and student interns. THE TCSUH SOCIETY provides former TcSUH-affiliated personnel a formal way to connect with the Center, keep in touch with former classmates and faculty, participate in networking and mentoring opportunities, and take advantage of our extensive Calendar of Events. All graduating students are awarded membership and are provided certificates. THE TCSUH SOCIETY officially kicked off in November during our new TcSUH Homecoming activities.

The two-day calendar of events began with an inaugural symposium series, MEETING OF THE MINDS, which will have a different research theme each year. The theme for 2019 was the Legacy of Bernd T. Matthias, and speakers included Matthias’ former students Prof. Paul C. W. Chu, Prof. Zachary Fisk, Prof. M. Brian Maple, and Dr. Robert N. Sheldon, with Dr. James Smith, Matthias collaborator, as moderator. The symposium was held at the UH Library's Elizabeth Rockwell Pavilion (2nd Floor). A Luncheon and continuation of the program, Legacy of the Legacy, with speaker Prof. Maw-Kuen Wu, followed the Symposium at the Hilton University of Houston in the Shamrock Ballroom. In the afternoon, self-guided tours of TcSUH’s laboratories, new demonstrations, and a wine and hors ’d oeuvres reception were held in the Houston Science Center building (HSC).
