Overview
Quantum Defects and Photonics: Cavity-coupled telecom atomic source in silicon
Biography
Dr. Chen received his B.S. degree in Optical Science and Engineering from Zhejiang University, China in 2013, and his Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Brown University in 2018. He then became a postdoctoral research associate at Princeton University, working on developing multiplexed quantum network nodes using single erbium ions. Dr. Chen joined Rice University in July 2021, as an assistant professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and as part of the Rice Quantum Initiative. Dr. Chen’s research explores methods to gain control over solid-state defect spin systems with telecom optical interfaces for quantum information processing towards building scalable quantum networks. Dr. Chen recently won the 2023 NSF CAREER Award.
